Arsia Mons
Arsia Mons is the third highest mountain on the planet Mars and one of the three shield volcanoes in the Tharsis Montes. It is 52,496 feet (16,000 m.) high and 30 times the size of Mauna Loa (in Hawaii) in volume! Recent studies suggest there may be glaciers on Arsia, due to the possible moraines and other features associated with glaciers observed on its flanks. The volcano was given its name by Giovanni Schiaparelli (1835-1910) after the famous Roman forest of Arsia Silva.
